Fetterisms (5 of 5)

"The Human Mind Cannot Conceive of A Thing
That Can’t Be Done."
(Guest Blogger: Paul "Papa" Fetters)

On two occasions this summer, I wanted a tool or a gadget that I was going to make. One was a long handled dandelion digger and the other was a splicer-connection to repair a garden hose.

Both were great “original” thoughts…or so I thought. But I became realistic and determined that if I could conceive of the ideas, then probably someone else had already made them. I purchased them at the local hardware. Cursed is the one who thinks my “original” thoughts before I think my original thoughts.

Often the concept is fantasy before it becomes reality. Buck Rogers was the first to explore space travel in the comic strips years and years ago. Now space travel is a common fare in the daily news.

Hmmm. I wonder. Perhaps, the reason we can conceive of God is because God exists. That seems to be the assumption in the first four words of Genesis. “In the beginning God. . .”

Todd;

I have enjoyed reading your dad's "Fetterisms" all week but especially todays entry. Your dad had a profound influence on my thinking about ministry, theology, and the church. Thanks for having him share. By the way i don' read many blogs at all, but I very much enjoy reading yours.
