I've been listening a lot to Coldplay, Collective Soul, and Kutless recently. Each group has thought-provoking lyrics.
From the CD--Viva la Vida--Coldplay's "42" has this memorable line: "You didn't get to heaven but you made it close."
- Makes me wonder if someone should be congratulated on "making it close" to heaven. Probably not...given the terrible consolation prize.
From the CD--To Know That You're Alive--Kutless's "The Disease and The Cure" asks, "Is there way to clean the sin off of me. Is there anyone with a vaccine?"
- Obviously, sin is a human problem. Wouldn't it be cool if there was a vaccine? Wait! There is...Jesus Christ!! Check out Romans 5 & 6.
From the CD--Afterwords--Collective Soul's "Never Here Alone"makes me laugh with this line: "I had a thought but it hurt. So, I let it go."
- Ever thought so much that it made your head...and your heart hurt? I guess that's what they are talking about. Reminds me, though, of Saint Paul's words--"...and we take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:5b).
